Rio Ferdinand fined £45,000

So Ferdinand has been fined by the FA for re-tweeting the "choc-ice" slur regarding Ashley Cole.

What are your thoughts on this?  I think he was foolish to get involved, so soon after John Terry was found not guilty in court. 

All footballers who use twitter depress me.  No, I don't care about what time you're drinking tea, or that you can copy and paste an intelligent quote, or your "hilarious" banter with other players.  Get a life!

Then again, I'm writing a blog!!!

That's right people - with the signing of a bloke who played in the Japanese 2nd division a few years ago and Crewe's finest - someone Powell, they don't need anyone else as they still have a youngster who retired last summer, then came back at Christmas, and then came third - that's right THIRD in the football writers player of the year award last season! Those writers should be ashamed of themselves! Pathetic

Redknapp sacked!

Well he hasn't been of course, but the implosion of Spurs' season means that were he not just about to be taken on as England manager (in which Spurs will receive some decent compensation), he should be.

I remember when Spurs destroyed Newcastle 5-0 on the 11th Feb 2012, they were rightly being touted as potential title contenders.  Since then, they've beaten Stevenage (in a replay) and Bolton in the FA Cup, and Swansea in the league.  That's an appalling record.  They're also now 3 points behind Newcastle in the race for top 4 and 'Arry's blaming it on lack of squad depth.

Well here's 4 names: Bassong, Corluka, Pavlyuchenko and Pienaar.  All allowed to leave in January, and who did Spurs sign?  Luis Saha is an injury-prone 33 year old and Ryan Nelson a 34 year old centre back.

I think Redknapp needs only to look in a mirror to see who's to blame.

In other news, Chelsea are 1-0 up at half-time vs Barca, so my prediction of Barca 5-1 Chelsea over 2 legs is still on!!!

Chelsea v Liverpool final - noooooooooo!

My worst nightmare has been realised!  Chelsea's 5-1 win over Spurs today means we play Liverpool in the FA Cup final.  Now most football fans would be delighted their team is in a final... not me.

I detest Liverpool so much that the thought of "King" Kenny doing that stupid celebration when he spins around 180 degrees with his arms manically waving to someone he may or may not know in the crowd, when Andy Carroll scores a 94th minute winner is something that will make me very depressed.

I would much rather have lost to Spurs today and save any final heartache, but no!  Trust my team to win 5-1 (great goal by Mata by the way... fnarr fnarr) and put me through this torture!

On a happier note, great to see Lamps score a free kick after 100235 attempts - he's got a great future ahead of him.

Also, look out for the next podcast this week - can't wait to hear Rich's take on Villa!

Semi Finals Here We Go!

Champions League semi finals are all set up - as we predicted: Bayern v Madrid and Chelsea v Barca.  My mouth is watering, but I think Chelsea will bow out to Barca and Madrid will beat Bayern.

My prediction for the final: Madrid 3-2 Barca... you read it hear first!

Drogba feigns fear at Benfica task!

Personally, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen - Didier Drogba "trembling with fear" when Chelsea drew Benfica in the Champions League quarter finals.

The disrespect is hysterical!  And what makes it even more hysterical is that Chelsea are in NO WAY favourites to win this tie.  In fact, I reckon Oscar Cardozo (22 goals already this season) was doing exactly the same when he saw the draw!

Anyway, enjoy a bit of Didier:
